Setting the stage
For many of us with deep roots in Eorzea, glamour has become the real endgame. Yet for those who are new to the star, you may not know how accessible and easy it is to make your armor and weapons match your job fantasy without sacrificing any stats.
From visual dictionary to tips and tricks, our fabulous host, Buck Haus, utilized their real world expertise and experience to translate those same skills to expressing ourselves in Eorzea!
With inspiration overflowing, everyone went off to curate their overly stuffed glamour dressers and craft their signature looks.
But what is high fantasy fashion without a highly fantastical fashion contest?
Of course HJP needed to go into high gear, revamp the FC house into a fully function runway and host it’s very first Fashion Fantasy Contest!

Vibe: "YarRRR x YasSSS"
To celebrate the seaside real estate, the Kraken's Call, the Rising Tide, we say YarRRR, celebrating our maritime inspirations and say YasSSS to crank them up a notch with glamour, luxury, camp, or anything in between. Think Pirate Ships, Plundered Booty, Seaside Escapades and Coastal Camp!
And to set the stakes, there is a 5 million Gil prize pool!
The panelists were absolutely STUNNING. Buck Haus. Tinael Nochlomin. Oliver Benley. Ettie Rohesia.
We had to bring our A-game… Arrr-game?
Tricorns, ruffles, corsets, high boots, eye patches, silly non-historically accurate accents…we had to BE PIRATES.
All contestants designed their pirate-looks with the lessons taught in Fashion Fantasy 101.
Some looks were dangerous. Some were a bit scandalous. Some had birds. Some WERE birds.
The voting was intense. The judges had to move to a separate call to deliberate and discuss. Apparently there were many defenses argued for their personal favorites.
The contestants and viewers alike sat and watched the judges pace back and forth and LOOK directly all of us.
Ultimately, they decided to choose a top 3!

“Loved loved loved the event! So honoured to be able to judge, and so hard to pick my favourite glams! Everyone was so creative, and good sports, and I’m so glad we got to be able to see everyone come together in their most swashbuckling attire! I consider the show a great success, even though Tin tried to cook and eat our third place winner part way through. And I won’t mention the fire roast that happened afterwards. Just so glad we were able to take extra screenshots on the beach afterwards where everyone could show off their high seas attire with the perfect backdrop. With some additional chill swimming and whale rides. Thank you everyone who joined us! And thank you, Buck for putting the whole thing together!”

What tale will you be telling the crew about this adventure?
Remarkably, nothing was reported missing or destroyed from the FC house at the end of the competition.
What was the most memorable moment of the event for you?
The beach-side photoshoot and the float circle of the crew had me smiling all day.
Did you try something new or step out of your comfort zone? How did it feel?
Being my wheel house, I was extremely happy to share glam and competitions with the Kraken crew. I feel like a lot of people pushed themselves to express creatively and put it out there in a social environment. The effort and support were fantastic.
Did anything unexpected or funny happen? Was there a highlight moment?
A pile of red feathers and the smell of hot sauce were reported by the housemaids. Tinny remains unavailable for comment. Marky Mark remains missing.
If you had to describe this event in three words, what would they be?
YAS-SSSSSS-SSSSIR!

Thanks to Tinny for the incredible stage and rewards offerings! To my panel of fabulous guest judges who did the hard work of narrowing down the field of most excellent contestants. To every one that gave of themselves and shared to the community, our eyes feasted on a buffet of fabulous pirate fashions. And of course to our very own Heather/Oliver for being the conduit for this community and expression. I don’t think I can express how grateful I am to have found you, your channel and our community. I’ve been playing FFXIV since 2.0 and it feels like I’m playing the game for the first time again.
Did this experience change the way you play or think about the FFXIV?
It reminds me that FFXIV is what you make of it; a game, world, and community that binds together people all across the world to share our enthusiasm for Final Fantasy, gaming, and community.
If this event were an official in-game duty or raid, what would its description say?
Pirate's Runway (Extreme) "Only the most daring of fashion buccaneers dare to tread these treacherous waters. With the tide of judgment rising and a storm of style on the horizon, will your glamour reign supreme, or will you walk the plank?"
If this event had an achievement title in-game, what would it be?
